Poker Faced

I really enjoy poker, especially online. Learning to play, though, can be funny. And I don’t mean funny “ha-ha,” but more like funny “where the Hell did all my money go,” especially when you’re just starting out.

If the internet is good for nothing else (and judging from my Twitter feed, it might not be) at least it’s good to play free online poker games.

It used to be if you wanted to learn to play poker with real players, you had to go out and lose money in a dangerous location while doing so. There was an entire industry of guys with gold teeth and nicknames centered around a location (“Chicago Pete,” “Minnesota Lou,” “California Prison Bob”). Now, you can play Texas holdem poker and win or lose without fearing for your extremities.

Once you figure out how everything works, you can play in online poker tournaments where even if you lose, you still don’t even have to put your pants on.

Which, last time I checked, was required at most casinos.
